ACT protected this property in partnership with the St. Johns River Water Management District, with ACT preparing the proposal to Florida Conservation and Recreation Lands (CARL) and acting as the acquisition agent.

  Size: 230 acres

  Activities: The is a boardwalk adjacent to the Gainesville-Hawthorne Rail Trail, from which you can see this property.  Canoing is possible when water levels are high enough.

  Location: The put-in for canoing is at Kate’s Fish Camp on Hawthorne Road. The take out it is at the bridge on CR 234. The length of the run is 4.4 miles (2-3 hour paddle).  When water levels are low creek is not navigable.
