Solar Impact, Inc. and Swamp Head Brewery have teamed up again for the 5th Tree Fest, an annual event hosted at Swamp Head brewery around Earth Day and Arbor Day each year. Tree Fest celebrates the environment by raising money to plant trees with the Alachua Conservation Trust in an event that features food trucks, family-friendly activities, live music, and of course, Swamp Head beer.

Explore fishes and other aquatic fauna of the Santa Fe River. We will use seines and dipnets to capture a variety of creatures, then place them in aquaria to observe their adaptations to living in riverine environments. The event will be led by Howard Jelks.

Join ACT & Kathryn Moorhead for yoga on the prairie! Kathryn is a 200 hour Registered Yoga Teacher through CorePower Yoga in Austin, TX. She is trained in power vinyasa yoga, which she enjoys because it focuses on strength, flow, and mindfulness. Kathryn believes yoga is for everyone, and this will be an all-levels yoga class with a faster paced flow and emphasis on strength. It will be held at the beautiful Tuscawilla Preserve Cabin. Kathryn is offering the class for free but is asking that donations be made to help ACT preserve natural spaces. Please bring your own mat and water.
This year’s rains and storms have kept the Santa Fe River running high. Depending on conditions, we will attempt to paddle a stretch of the upper Santa Fe River. It can be an adventure since there can be more than a few trees blocking the way. However, the scenery is spectacular, and we should see some wildlife. Be prepared to stop and hike as well to enjoy all the Santa Fe River Preserve has to offer.

This event is specifically geared for 3rd -5th grade students, but all are welcome to join as long as they are accompanied by their parent or guardian. This year’s rains and storms have kept Lake Tuscawilla full. Depending on conditions, we will attempt to paddle out onto Lake Tuscawilla. The scenery is lovely with plenty of opportunity to bird. The paddle is not long or hard, and depending on conditions, may be more of a float than a paddle. RSVPs (contact info below) are required since we need to organize the boats – let us know if you have a kayak or canoe (or any extra boats you would be willing to let others borrow).
