Fall 2025 NPO Interns

Heather Le

Outreach and Events Intern

Heather Le is a third-year UF student majoring in Sustainability and the Built Environment with a minor in Urban & Regional Planning and a Geospatial Information Analysis certificate. She is passionate about sustainability and community planning, and in her free time enjoys traveling, photography, and exploring local food spots.

Kimberly NeSmith

Outreach and Events Intern

Kimberly NeSmith is a third-year Wildlife Ecology and Conservation major additionally seeking a certificate in International Studies and a Medallion in Gulf Scholars at the University of Florida. Due to her finding the world of conservation through science education, her passion lies in working with and for communities to better understand and preserve our planet’s natural resources. She’s looking forward to engaging with Gainesville residents while becoming further educated on the ins and outs of conservation-based nonprofit work. When she’s not studying, Kimberly can be found practicing hand stitching, hiking Gainesville trails, and reading the latest novels.

Brooke Saunders

Environmental Education Intern

I am a fourth year Environmental Science major with a minor in Soil, Water, and Ecosystem Sciences at the University of Florida. With my studies and skills I gain from this internship, I am aiming to be able to communicate the importance of our environment's health to all people, whether that be farmers, stakeholders, or kids! In my free time, I'm always either watching a movie, listening to music, or finding new places in Gainesville to explore.

Sammi Coon

Environmental Education Interns

My name is Sammi and I am a junior in the wildlife ecology and conservation major at UF. I am a huge lover of the outdoors and in my free time I like to camp, kayak, and just run around with my two dogs. My long term career goal is to run a non-profit wildlife rehab center for animals in the exotic pet trade. I’m so excited to work with ACT for the CrEEK program this semester and hope to help make a difference in the future of wildlife education!

Keira Rice

Environmental Education Interns

I am a second year Environmental Engineering major at the University of Florida. I was born and raised in the greater Boston area. I have an interest in conservation, science communication, and developing sustainable solutions. In my free time I enjoy running, playing tennis, and going to the beach! My experience includes co-founding my own environmental club and research experience as a citizen and biodiversity scientist this past summer. I look forward to being a CrEEK intern this fall and being a part of Alachua Conservation Trust!
